Purpose of the Role
  • Ensuring that web applications and system APIs are error free for each release
  • Owning and maintaining the automated testing process and CI system
  • Running manual browser testing where automation is absent, with a view to automating everything
  • Develop and execute testing plans and reports for new projects
Key Attributes
  • Experience working in smaller agile start up culture business
  • 7+ Years professional experience with QA/testing web development (experience with Node JS and single page applications a plus)
  • A strong understanding of testing frameworks and tools (e.g. Selenium, Karma, Mocha, Nightwatch, protractor)
  • Experience with testing modern distributed cloud applications
  • Experience with testing Microsoft SQL Server environments including designing and manipulating test data, validating stored procedures and scripts.
  • Experience in ownership of the QA process for SDLC iterative releases
  • Experience using bug-tracking software such as Jira
  • Experience operating in Agile development workflows
  • Experience testing with multiple operating systems and browsers
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills
  • A good understanding of software, or background as a web application developer, with a proactive approach to learn new systems and troubleshoot problems
  • Experience using version control software such as Git or SVN
  • Intermediate programming/scripting knowledge and experience
  • Experience of CI systems such as Jenkins/bamboo/teamcity etc
  • Solid documentation/test reporting skills
Roles and Responsibilities
Testing
  • Utilise modern test automation frameworks/suites to write a solid foundation of tests/frameworks for web applications and APIs (XML/SOAP/REST)
  • Help build a strong suite of performance/loads tests
  • Ensure suite of functional end-to-end tests exist for client specific testing
  • Advise application developers on test practices to better automate unit testing
  • Ensure that our products are of the highest quality possible before each release
Development Cycles
  • Lead the QA testing processes
  • Develop full test plans for projects
  • Signoff each release in all environments as tested (i.e. UAT, SIT, Performance, Production)
Stakeholders
  • Co-ordinate releases with IT team, ensure all app/db/infra changes are prepared for testing/release
  • Liaise with external 3rd parties to ensure integration testing
