Summary of Role

Are you a passionate developer invested in MS SQL Server? Join Hometrack`s dynamic and nimble team of coding experts to deliver mission-critical database platforms to major Australian banking clients.

This role is a key member of the database dev team. The team delivers highly secure and performant database architecture for the banking sector. Each member is responsible for the design, planning, programming and delivery of enterprise quality database solutions.

Key Attributes

  • Development 7+ years database programming (Expertise in MS SQL Server 2014/2016 mandatory), strong T-SQL stored procedure skills & data warehouse design

  • Ability to design and implement a database solution end-to-end, from broad concepts agreed with the team, to architecting the solution, and final delivery of stored procedures to be integrated by the applications team

  • SQL Server DBA skills, performance analysis, tuning, index optimisation, maintenance plans, Etc.

  • Experience with MS SQL Server Always ON

  • (Highly-regarded) Experience with designing and running ETL processes (SSIS)

  • Significant exposure to release / change management co-ordination

  • Excellent attention to detail and communications skills with both technical and business staff

  • Comfortable with a fast moving, agile development environment

  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects in small high-powered teams with tight deadlines

  • Ability to estimate work effort for agile planning

  • (Highly-regarded) Experience with Continuous Integration using Redgate DLM Automation tool/Jenkins or similar

Roles and Responsibilities


  • Developer on existing and new enterprise projects:

    • Design, Planning, Programming, Unit Testing, Delivery, Documentation, Support

  • Breaking down coding tasks and effort estimation

  • Manage code (source control), schemas, and assist test / production deployment as req.

  • On-time delivery of high-performance, secure, well-architected and scalable solutions

  • Support and debugging of production systems, where required

  • Participate in design, maintenance, tuning and backup of all database environments


  • Work closely with the Database Engineering Manager to agree priorities and strategy

  • Co-ordinate releases with Database Engineering and Application Managers to ensure all app/db changes are in sync€

  • Ensure integration and co-ordination with all Hometrack team members.
